My memory of Bath is rather clouded. It was when I was 18-19 and consisted of a lot of alcohol, my friend being mistaken for a celebrity, I his bodyguard, underground disco rooms, shots lit on fire, a comb stolen, and Stonehenge.
Jacob Rees Mogg's (if you don't know, be thankful) constituency includes part of Bath; this makes me judge it enormously.
I also can't help but think of the baby-eating bishop of Bath and Wells."Your bottom will wish it'd never been born!"
As for tomorrow, I'll probably aiming at getting to the Brewdog in Shepherd's Bush around 5ish.NoN t-shirt most likely.
I hope to be there for around 6 ish.. tubes n that. need to remember to pack NoN 66north had instead of generic 66north hat (my and brewdog passport)
I don't have a Brewdog passport, not that I visit that often.Until my local one opens next week!
So sorry I once again missed you Breakbeat, apparently you were right there as well. Glad I at least got to say hi to pie (see what I did there)
How was the Sóley, Sin Fang and Örvar Smárason concert? Was it great? Gutted I couldn’t be there. Wish they’d come to Scotland.
It was excellent, I'm still putting it all together for a blog post, but they were a lot of fun and the music was fantastic. If there anywhere near you, I'd suggest trying to make it as it was a lot of fun. And each musician did an opening set of their individual catalog which was a delightful treat.
I expect given this was a one off project that they won’t tour again. I did see them at NoN, they were great, but the set was so short, and I couldn’t see them (stuck at the back in my wheelchair). I would have loved to travel down to London to see them properly, but it just wasn’t feasible. I’ll live it through your blog post once you’ve published it (and shared it here)!
Was fairly short set, given that the album in its entirety is less than 50 mins.
Great show but at times it felt like Orvar’s mic was up waaaay too loud drowning out not only Soley’s vocals but the music
Going to see Epic Beard Men (Sage Francis/B. Dolan) and Nils Frahm next week.
I’ve seen a couple of videos on YouTube and see what you mean, Örvar’s vocals did seem disproportionately loud. Or Sóley’s and Sindri’s were disproportionately quiet!
On the subject of upcoming gigs I’m seeing Ólafur Arnalds in Edinburgh at the end of September, my one concert of 2018!
I must admit, i didn't notice it at the time. Having rewatched some of my clips I'd agree with the proviso that I think Örvar has a stronger voice than Sindri or Sóley.
I love their voices together, I think their album is perfection, but I do also think his is the stronger voice of the three.
It certainly wouldn't stop me going to see them again.
Was supposed to be driving to Notts tomorrow morning to see family and then to see Vök on Sunday night but I have man flu so not feeling too great. Can’t sleep because coughing, sneezing etc it’s so annoying
I had that all through NoN and a month after. Man up !
if I felt safe to drive with dizzy spells and the brain fog I would
Monumental dance thingy with Godspeed You! Black Emperor in July at the Barbican.
Just got a ticket for the last night of Pixies at the Roundhouse in November. My first Pixies gig since the Trompe Le Monde days........
