This is from the email SR sent on 12th May, before tickets went on sale.
"on top of the four ticketed sigur rós shows, there will be a free arts and entertainment program to enjoy throughout the public spaces in harpa. additionally the band will curate a series of ticketed concerts, performances and screenings, the line-up of which will be revealed in the coming weeks."
I took this to mean that the concerts, performances and screenings would be ticketed in the same way some Airwaves shows are ticketed. Not at an extra cost, but on a first come first serve basis, to avoid an over capacity situation. It should have been stated clearly that these events would cost extra, rather than leave it open to interpretation and assumptions. It should also have been made clear that these additional events wouldn't be ticketed separately, but with an 'all or nothing' 4 day pass. There was no mention of the need to purchase a 4 day pass, on top of the SR ticket, back in May, before the SR tickets went on sale. Certainly not on their website, nor in the emails I received.
I also distinctly remember, either here, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, someone commenting on the cost of the tickets, to be told (by SR) that they cost what they did, because of the fantastic programme of events covered by the ticket, or something along these lines. This seemed to imply that the SR ticket would cover all the events.
They've obviously made changes since the event was announced in a May/the sale of the SR tickets and now. They've also changed the dates, it was originally billed as running from 26th - 31st December, now it's 27th - 30th December. Which isn't a big deal in itself, unless anyone has booked flights and accommodation based on the original dates. But it is evidence of a lack of continuity on SR's part, in the planning of this event.
