ah, I don't remember the commercials, but there a time there were if it wasn't SR or Jonsi, it was someone trying to be them in a lot of commercials.

i think it was the unethical nature of who the adverts were for that made it worse. gas guzzling cars, dulux paint. and they were probably all using that same song i can't stand too.

Talking of soundtracks, watched the Girl with all the Gifts recently. Loved the soundtrack by Christobal Tapia de Veer. Worth a Google.

I believe she played a concert last year, I remember seeing the FB event.

They're supporting Mogwai in Glasgow, be nice if they are in Brixton too.
Haven't seen them since a small festival in Slough (I think) around the time of the second album.

They're properly amazing live, and have lost nothing in the 20+ years in that respect. Bit of a coup for Mogwai, too, to get such high profile support.

I remember that Slough Festival, though I didn't go. I wonder if anything's happened there since?

Wow - Ride, Curve, and Slowdive!!! I was a huge fan of Curve. Saw them a couple times in late 90s here.
I saw Ride and Slowdive here in Los Angeles a few years back - both put on amazing performances.

Revolver and Thousand Yard Stare were both pretty popular at the time, too, though both sound a bit dated now (though I'm not going to pretend I don't find TYS's 0-0 AET just as jolly now as I did at the time).

The Mock Turtles were led by Alan Partridge's brother, and I've never heard of Ratcat.

So there once was a band called Areogramme. From this sprung The Unwinding hours, Chvrches, and A Mote of Dust. The Mote of Dust song really gets the ole feel recepters pumping away:

After a few proper listens now, I'm upgrading the new Ride album from 'a bit of a mixed bag' to 'fucking ace'. A few corkers on there, not least the brilliant title track.

Deserves better reviews than it's had, imo.
