Thought I may as well start this thread here as well. What new music do I need to be listening to, whatcha digging and all that?

For me, and completely biasedly biased, I am digging Milkywhale. They're new album is on Spotify, and I think I may have to buy a recliner next time I'm in Iceland

Except for Sigur Rós I listen to bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Sleeping With Sirens, Bring Me The Horizon and The Front Bottoms, so I guess my taste in music is pretty. odd.

A fella of my age has had many different musical likes along the way. Bands who've lasted the distance, Ramones, New Order, Metallica. Currently in second place behind SR are Mogwai. Also appreciate Arcade Fire, Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Many, many others I've loved along the way but have little time to listen to much these days and even less cash to go to gigs. So now it's pretty much SR and a bit of Mogwai for live experiences. But what times they've been.

I think there are a lot of similarities between the Scottish and Icelandic music scenes. Both are incestuous, seems everybody has played or plays in everyone elses band. And I really like both. So there are at least two, that's a lot right??

I love Mogwai, Arab Strap is playing Iceland Airwaves this year and that's really cool. I am an uber fan of the lineage of bands that have come from Aereogramme as well.

I've just read about it earlier today - I'd no idea they were still active or reforming or whichever it is. On first listen just now, but totally excited they're back. Incredible live band too.

to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with it. don't care for them myself, but "parachutes" is one of the best albums released in my lifetime.

I'm surprised they even have to ask. I once tried to listen to Parachutes and it was so soothing I fell asleep. I also love the lyrics to Yellow, what an amazing song. I'm an even bigger fan of Keane's drummer, his mastery of "boom-boom-chk" is quite phenomenal:

Probably about time I got into Slowdive.
I've certainly mentioned it before, but it seems odd as I remember Rachel working in the local Our Price and going to see Reading at Elm Park with Christian and friends. I'm sure I bought one of their early releases, must try and catch up as they seem to be creating a bit of a stir.
