Very different from the Harpa Soundbath.
This one was both disciplined and enhanced by the collaboration with the Reality Projector. Harpa was constrained only by what they chose to do with the light...”alien” and to me the whole atmosphere at Harpa was more organic and exciting. Not to say that last night wasn’t fascinating, but I felt more aware of the mechanics of the lighting project and trying to marry the movements to the sound - which flowed together more in Iceland (again, for me).
Last night’s addition of a drumless ebow was a surprise treat, very beautifully done. And the bass through the entire show was (literally) moving. I loved both sound baths that I’ve seen, they’ve been quite different. Eager to hear what people say about FORM and Meltdown.
